The Emerging Professional of the Year award celebrates early‑career BASA members who are already making a positive difference in the adhesives & sealants industry. It recognises individuals who demonstrate initiative, professional growth and clear future potential – regardless of job title or length of experience.

This category is designed to spotlight people who are progressing quickly, contributing positively to their organisation and showing commitment to developing themselves and the industry. The judges are not looking for perfection or long careers, but for evidence of learning, impact and promise. If you are in a technical or manufacturing role you should apply for the Manufacturing Rising Star, this category is aimed at those in sales, marketing, admin or non-technical roles

Who should enter?

You should consider entering if you:

  • Are relatively new to the adhesives & sealants sector, or early in your professional career
  • Have taken on responsibility and made a meaningful contribution in your role
  • Show initiative, problem‑solving or a proactive approach to your work
  • Are committed to developing your skills, knowledge and professional confidence

Graduates, apprentices, technicians, supervisors, career‑changers and those recently promoted are all encouraged to apply. If you are unsure whether you are “experienced enough”, this category is very likely intended for you.

What the judges are looking for

Your entry will invite you to reflect on:

  • Your role and responsibilities, giving context to your current position
  • A key contribution or achievement you’ve made in the past 12–18 months
  • An example of initiative or creative problem‑solving beyond day‑to‑day tasks
  • Your professional development, including skills gained or confidence built
  • How you contribute positively to your team, workplace culture or customers
  • Your future potential, aspirations and commitment to the industry

The questions are structured to allow you to tell your professional story clearly and honestly. Concise, straightforward answers are encouraged — you do not need formal language or extensive evidence, just clear examples and reflection.

How to prepare your entry

Before starting your application, it may help to:

  • Note down one or two achievements or challenges you are proud of
  • Reflect on what you have learned in the past year and how you’ve grown
  • Consider what motivates you and where you see your career heading
  • Gather informal feedback or examples that demonstrate your impact

Judges value authenticity, insight and enthusiasm. This is an opportunity to showcase your progress so far and your potential for the future — not to compare yourself to more established professionals.
