Manufacturer of the Year

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges, the most outstanding BASA Manufacturer, demonstrating growth of its business and a sustained contribution to the UK economy. 

 ENTRY TO THE AWARD

This is the pinnacle Award of the year and entering companies will have to demonstrate outstanding performance against the following criteria:

Proven excellence in at least two areas of performance exemplified by being shortlisted in two other award categories.

Demonstrable commitment to sustainable growth of the business in the UK

Following initial judging of other awards, applicants who have been short listed for two or more awards will be invited to apply for the Manufacturer of the Year Award.

The Award is open to any BASA member company who manufactures adhesives, sealants or other building product related to the sector in the UK or for the UK market.

The Award requires that applicants have been short listed for two or more awards to be eligible to apply for the Manufacturer of the Year Award.

This will involve completing a short 1-page form of additional information.  Judges will then base their decision on this information together with that supplied for the other awards entered.

Excellence in Supply and Services

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges a Supply and Services company who is a BASA Member and has demonstrated industry leadership, innovation, and excellence.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

Adapting to change is key for any successful supply and services company and over recent years businesses have had to contend with several exceptional challenges, Brexit, Covid-19 and the rising cost of living to name a few. During this time, you will have all experienced successes, failures and a whole lot of learning. We want to hear about pivotal moments that have shaped the landscape of your business today. It’s time to look back (pre-Brexit and Covid if necessary) and see how far you’ve come and celebrate how hard your team has worked.

BASA is looking to recognise our Supply and Services Members who have demonstrated industry leadership, innovation, and excellence. It doesn’t matter what size of company you represent, what matters is that you can demonstrate how far you have come.

This might relate to a specific initiative or project in employment and training, environment, customer care, technology, operational efficiency, innovation, health and safety or something completely different, working either independently or as part of a partnership. Whatever you choose, it will be something that has generated exceptional results, impact and is truly class leading.

Marketing Campaign of the Year

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges the BASA member that demonstrated brilliance that combines creativity, innovation and effectiveness in their marketing.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

Great campaigns involve many different channels and mediums from digital to print to direct.

The following campaigns are acceptable;

online advertising

viral marketing

email marketing

direct marketing

integrated online and offline campaigns.

To enter this award simply describe how you leveraged your brand position through creation and implementation of integrated marketing communications strategies (in less than 800 Words).

Entries could include:

Marketing collateral connected to the campaign, including one digital piece.

Background information covering the purpose and objectives of the campaign.

Description of campaign rollout and the platforms used .

Results including engagement and ROI .

A demonstration of the effectiveness of the campaign in generating business directly or indirectly.

JUDGING

Judges will be looking for evidence of:

Customer engagement- they will want to see an overview of how you engaged your customer and built the marketing campaign to promote your brand. What creative campaigns did you roll out to achieve your KPI’s?

Clear and measurable outcomes – they will want to understand how your marketing campaign positively impacted your business? What outcomes were achieved? What was the end goal of the campaign (ie brand awareness, event attendance, etc)?

Judges will be looking for ROI or tangible business benefit.


Best Product Packaging

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges, the BASA member that has successfully packaged their product in innovative or sustainable ways, or has contributed to a reduction in waste packaging, reduced packaging costs or innovative new application packaging.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

To enter this award simply describe (in less than 800 words) what makes your product packaging different from your competitors, or how you packaging is more sustainable as a result of innovation.

The use of new materials to package your products, innovation in application of your adhesive and sealant via new product packaging, more efficient use of the packaging to ensure minimal product waste, and the implementation of manufacturers own re-use or recycling schemes qualify you to apply for this award.

If you have improved the recyclability of your packaging or can demonstrate that you can supply your product in smaller more efficient packages resulting in less waste, or at a cost reduction for your customers due to product packaging innovation then this is the award for you.

 JUDGING

Judges will be looking for evidence of:

How the packaging helped carry the product in different markets.

How the product’s packaging has affected its commercial success.

How much focus on sustainable materials and recyclability there was and whether the packaging design contributes positively to costs or the circular economy.

The on-shelf stand-out of the pack.

The overall impact the packaging had on the brand – especially though social media crossing overseas markets.

Whether the packaging contributed to easier or reduced waste recycling


Process Safety

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges the BASA member that demonstrates excellence in process safety.

To enter this award simply describe (in less than 750 words) the project, process, or product to best demonstrate excellence in process safety.

JUDGING

Judges will be looking for evidence of:

To what extent are PSLG (Process Safety Leadership Principles) are being implemented and followed.

Level of engagement by site or company directors/leaders through actions from the top.

How well leaders communicate effectively about process safety across the site or organisation.

Look at the training processes and new systems you have in place.

Highlight your apprenticeship schemes and HR initiatives.

Think of staff involvement and business safety in addition to the manufacturing element.


Excellence in Training & Development

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges the BASA member who  demonstrates excellence in training and development of staff. BASA want to reward and celebrate organisations who see the value and wider organisational benefits of investing in learning and development.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

To enter this award simply describe (in less than 800 words) and demonstrate how a skills/knowledge gap has been addressed, how a training programme has had a positive impact on business performance and the development or recruitment and retention of staff.

Provide an overview of the training and development initiative or program and why it deserves recognition (programs can be in-house or developed by a specialist training provider on your behalf).

Include a description of the approach adopted and cite tangible examples of how they are effectively tackling the skills gap.

List key metrics, milestones, or performance outcomes achieved so far.

Summarize why this is a forward-thinking or a unique program.

JUDGING

Judges will be looking for evidence of:

Companies who showcase their commitment to cultivating skills and developing their staff. They will be looking for evidence of high standards, best practice, innovation, and excellence in Training and Development.

How the investment in training programmes adds to learning and development of new skills, what the impact on employees is, and what the return on investment is in terms of filling the skills gap and retention of staff.

Examples of positive outcomes should be provided to assist the judging process.


Community Engagement

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges the BASA member who excelled in Community Engagement. The Community Engagement Award recognises the partnerships and collaborations which bring tangible benefit to local residents or wider communities.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

To enter this award simply describe (in less than 800 words) what your company has done to benefit the lives of individuals, communities, and wider society.

This category captures the powerful and innovative ways BASA Members are realising their purpose in today’s society to benefit the lives of individuals, communities, and wider society. Examples will range from economic, social, and environmental impacts with organisations and sectors outside the company where innovative new approaches to bringing positive benefit can be found.

JUDGING

Judges will be looking for evidence of:

The degree to which the organisation/project has successfully identified and targeted communities that might be interested in the project.

The size and diversity of the community which has engaged with the project.

A testimonial from whomever has benefited.

Although all applications will be considered on their merits, the judges will particularly be looking for innovative community engagement type of initiatives which have an element of proactive, new, community and social concern and positive impacts, rather than the very worthy and commendable ‘grass roots’ and ‘business as usual’ activities.


Young Achiever

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges someone employed by a BASA Member company who can demonstrate how their ability and individual performance has contributed to a strategic enhancement in any area of the business, describing the part they have played in achieving the stated aims or improvements.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

This award is open to any company to nominate their employee(s) - under the age of 30 years - who has achieved something of significance in the last year.

We are passionate about encouraging and inspiring young people within the adhesives and sealants sector and are looking for the young superstars of tomorrow that have already significantly contributed to and enhanced your business in any area. We are looking to recognise excellence within our industry and celebrating our extraordinary young people, the industry’s future leaders, is a great start.

The award is open to any person under 30 years of age on the 31st of December 2024, who is employed by a member of BASA and is nominated by their Line Manager or Director. Anyone leaving their employer between the application and the presentation event, should inform BASA, as this would disqualify them from the award.

The candidate should write an entry statement (of no more than 800 words) explaining:

– their role in the company

– their employment history, experience, etc

– why they should win the award

Their entry statement should be supported by their Line Manager or a Director of the company, explaining (in no more than 500 words) why they have been nominated and their achievements within the company.

Judges will be looking for evidence of how the performance of the young person has contributed positively to the business.


Environment & Sustainability Initiative

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges the BASA member who can describe a specific programme or initiative that has been undertaken to make a positive impact on their business, society and the environment, to make the business more sustainable or to enhance the environment.

This award looks to celebrate Member companies displaying exceptional efforts in their environmental sustainability agenda. It doesn’t matter what size or kind of company you represent, what matters is that your initiatives are making a real impact.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

It’s more than just acknowledging excellent sustainability strategies, this Environmental & Sustainability Award will recognise those that are truly having an impact on business, society and the environment. With sustainability now front and centre for business – emphasized by the evolving ESG regulation and growing scrutiny from stakeholders, shareholders, and consumers – this award gives companies a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate the progress your company is making to improve business as we know it.

For many organisations, the supply chain is responsible for most of their environmental footprint, and this category will consider companies that have helped tackle the various issues facing them. This might be through more local sourcing, using lower emission transport, reducing waste, sustainable materials or renewable energy usage or other innovations that embed the principles of sustainability in a transparent supply chain so that the organisation achieves a significant improvement in the sustainability of its end product(s) and/or service(s)

The award will recognise the project, process or product demonstrating an excellence in sourcing and consuming materials, reducing waste, and/or optimising the product life cycles.

To enter this award simply describe (in less than 800 words) what programmes or initiatives that your company has implemented that have had a positive impact in reducing your company’s environmental and social footprint.

Submissions should consider, the company’s objectives and plan for implementing these objectives, a summary of actions, a description of the positive impact the process has had on your business and the environment (either locally, nationally or globally).

We would also encourage applicants to give an indication of future development and what your company plans to do next.

What entrants did - when the project came on-stream, how much it cost and evidence of ROI (this may not just be in monetary returns but will also look at the benefits of the initiative in make the.business more sustainable long term).

Clear evidence of strong benefits to the environment and sustainability agenda and how the project changed the business / market in which it operates.

What data do you have to back up claims of recyclability, compostability and/or reduced carbon footprint?

Does the product have the accreditations and certifications to make its sustainable case?


Innovation

The winner of this Award will be, in the view of the judges the company or organisation that has developed and delivered a successful project that has positively impacted manufacturing, product design or performance, waste management, or other related activities with ground-breaking solutions, game-changing innovations, and positive impact on the business landscape.

ENTRY TO THE AWARD

The project has to demonstrate commercial success and potential to scale and has already been implemented in practice (i.e. be beyond the research stage).

To enter this award simply describe (in less than 800 words) how the development process delivers the innovation and how any innovative product added value to the brand.
