Session 1 – Standards and Products Information

10:00 Do you know how to affix CE/UKCA marking based on an ETA/UKTA?

Jason Harries, New Product Development Lead, British Board of Agrement (BBA))

When a building product does not have a harmonized European product standard (hEN), it can be evaluated based on the European Assessment (EAD) to get a European Technical Assessment (ETA) and affix CE marking. ETAs have facilitated CE marking for over 10500 building products. In the UK, The Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC), who have the legislative responsibility for UKCA marking of construction products, have indicated that UK-based technical assessment bodies (UK TABs) are able to draw up UK assessment documents for manufacturers supplying goods to the GB market. This allows manufacturers to obtain a voluntary UK mark for their products.UK TABs may use a European assessment document that was adopted before the UK left the EU to develop a UK assessment document if they have obtained the necessary consent to do so from the European Organisation for Technical Assessment.

BBA are a CAB and will talk today about how to affix voluntary UKCA/CE after a UK Technical Assessment or European Technical Assessment is issued. They will also discuss the process for UKCA/CE marking new products and how they can help BASA members understand the process and minimise test costs.

10:30 How to solve the product traceability challenge
Ross Matthews, BSI Identify

BSI Identify is the revolutionary digital service that improves industry safety by solving the product traceability challenge.
