UK REACH Update from Defra: Invitation to participate in a survey about Article 33 of UK REACH

17 February 2022

Defra would like to invite GB based suppliers and retailers of articles to participate in surveys about industry’s duties under Article 33 of UK REACH. This is a great opportunity for you to share your views and experiences on the implementation of Article 33 in GB.

About the surveys

Article 33 places duties on suppliers and retailers to provide information about substances of very high concern (SVHCs) in the articles that they supply.

The surveys will help Defra assess suppliers’ and retailers’ ability to communicate information about SVHCs in articles down the supply chain. The results will all be anonymous and used to inform part of the Secretary of State’s review of Article 33.

This information is not being gathered for enforcement purposes. It is to help inform us on how well Article 33 is working in practice.

• Who should complete: A person from your company who understands the company’s processes for communicating information within supply chains. We advise liaising internally to identify the most appropriate person.

• Time to complete: 15 minutes (can be completed in multiple sittings)

• Closing date: 9 March 2022

How to participate

If you are a retailer, supplying articles directly to the consumer, you can participate in the survey here:

• Retailer survey in English language

• Retailer survey in Welsh language

If you are a supplier of articles within the supply chain, you can participate in the survey here:

• Supplier survey in English language

• Supplier survey in Welsh language

If you do both roles, you are welcome to participate in both surveys.

This is a great opportunity to share your views and experiences on the implementation of Article 33.
